Family Vacations

The Nature Discovery Centre at the Amanyara resort in Turks & Caicos offers nature and environmental programs for all ages that focus on discovery and conservation of the indigenous wildlife on the island. Surrounded by a Marine National Park and Nature Preserve, Amanyara gives an authentic experience into the island’s unique environment. Give your children the opportunity to explore and learn through the Youth Nature Discovery Programs. These programs are designed for kids ages 5-12, but for those under 5 who wish to join, they are welcome to as long as they are accompanied by an adult. Here’s a description of some of the amazing programs you can sign your kids up for at the resort (and what’s really great about the programs is that they are educational in nature, focused on the local island but fun!):

Nature and Science Program
Join the team for adventures on the beach, expeditions along the rocky shore, critter safaris, bird watching, scavenger hunts and Nature & Science activities at the Nature Discovery Centre. Kids will learn about wildlife, share in creative projects and explore the beautiful island! Adults are welcome to join too!

Critter Safari
Join the Naturalists for critter hunts on the beach, through the tide pools or along our eco trail. Learn about indigenous reptiles, birds, butterflies and soldier crabs as well as in-the-field techniques for catching animals, recording data and releasing them to the wild. Nocturnal Critter Safaris can be arranged, starting just after sunset, looking for animals that only come out at night.

Sand Sculpting at the Beach
Learn to build Animal Sculptures on the beach using the powder soft sand, ocean water and beach treasures that you find. Sculpting is easy and fun for all ages!

Island Culture and Craft
Learn about the local traditions in the Turks and Caicos Islands and take part in the fun of making your own local crafts, fanner grass jewellery and instruments! Learn about the traditional uses of plants, the importance of the conch shell, and the value of Caribbean music.
